P.F. Chang’s who?! This Mongolian beef recipe ticks all your cravings! 

Everyone craves some Chinese takeout every once and a while. The sweet flavor of brown sugar combined with the savoriness of the soy sauce mixed with the aromatics of ginger, garlic, and dried red chili adds a flavor dimension that’s sure to make anyone happy and satisfied!

Ingredients

Beef and vegetables:
  • 750 g beef (I used AAA Angus Top Sirloin)
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 shallot (or onion)
  • 1 tbsp minced ginger
  • 2 tbsp (6-7 cloves) minced garlic
  • 2 bunch green onions
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • Dried red chili
  • Vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
Sauce:
  • 3 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp sweet soy glaze
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp water

Instructions

  1. Combine the ingredients for the sauce and set aside
  2. Slice the beef against the grain
  3. Combine cornstarch with salt and pepper
  4. Coat the beef slices with cornstarch
  5. Fry the beef slices in batches — 1 minute on each side until golden, set aside
  6. Add oil, sweat the shallots, ginger, garlic, and dried red chili
  7. Add the beef slices back into the pan and combine it with the aromatics
  8. Add the sauce and combine the ingredients until everything’s fully coated
  9. Add the green onions and sesame seeds before serving
